Winter Reading starts December 20

Avid readers, emerging readers or those looking to kickstart a reading habit for the new year can take part in the Library’s annual Winter Reading program. The Winter Reading program is free and open to the public. It begins Friday, December 20, and ends Sunday, February 2. Registration is open now on Beanstack, or you can get signed up in person with the help of a Library staff member in Reader Services, The Teen Loft or Children’s Services.

“Reading, especially in the colder months, can be both a great escape or a chance to focus when things get very busy,” said Library Director Joanna Bertucci. “I encourage everyone to stop in or peruse our online catalog, get book recommendations from our librarians, and make the most of the Winter Reading challenge. We also have a wonderful lineup of free programs for all ages, like our Tiny Art Show for adults, engaging events for families like our Puzzle Challenge on December 26, or our huge lineup of Storytimes for the youngest patrons.” Registration for Winter Reading is open now at parkridgelib.beanstack.org.

Kids who sign up and read for 20 days will earn a prize book. For every ten days they read, they will earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win gift cards or their own plush yeti, the Winter Reading mascot. If they read all 40 days of the program, they will get to play a game for a chance to win an additional prize. Find out more here.

Teens who register and read just 10 days will get a sticker and a virtual raffle ticket.
