Library offers Halloween fun for all ages

During this spooky season, our librarians are busy not only with their Halloween-themed book displays, but with a slew of scary and not-so-scary programs for adults and teens. Plus, they welcome all young trick-or-treaters to stop by on Halloween.

ADULTS

The Ghosts of Edgar Allen Poe | Brian “Fox” Ellis will visit as gothic poet Edgar Allan Poe. Spend a spine-tingling evening in his parlor as he details the torments of his life and how they inspired his work. Thursday, October 10 Virtual or in person. Register.

Friday Morning Coffee Club: Edgar Allen Poe, Buried Alive | On Friday, October 25, discover the dark and mysterious life of this notorious author, including the way Poe tapped into what it means to be a human in the modern and sometimes frightening world. Register.

TEENS

The Tiny Terrors Art Show runs through November 4. See the submissions of tiny artwork by Park Ridge middle and high schoolers, on display outside the Teen Loft on the third floor.

Haunted Shoeboxes | Patrons in grades 5 to 9 are invited to design and decorate an eerie shoebox scene to celebrate spooky season, Friday, October 11. Register.

Murder Mystery Party Terror in Transylvania | It’s Dracula’s birthday celebration – but suddenly, he’s not the only one dead! Friday, October 25, for grades 6 to 12, registration opens October 11. Register.

Teen Movie Night | Cast your vote for which of four movies will play when you register for the Wednesday, October 30 screening. Register.

Trick or Treat at the Library on Halloween! Visit each of our service desks in your costume, all day, for a special treat!
