Journalist, author Robert Herguth to speak at Writers Group, June 12

The Park Ridge Writers Group welcomes Chicago Sun-Times investigative reporter Robert Herguth to their June 12 program at 7 p.m. in the Library’s first floor meeting room. The program is open to anyone curious about the writing process, looking for inspiration for their own writing projects and thinking of joining the Writers Group.

Herguth will share his stories of trial and error throughout his writing career, providing “a message of resilience, hope, persistence, humility.”

Herguth’s writing focuses on an array of subjects, including police corruption, organized crime and government accountability, as well as religion. He has also contributed to the New York Times, Newsweek, Chicago Magazine, Catholic Digest, and Irish America, among others. He is the co-writer and co-host of the podcast Underbelly: The Rebel Kind, the story of a trucker from Chicago, David Rupert, who managed to infiltrate and take down the Real Irish Republican Army.

The Park Ridge Writers Group offers a friendly space for helpful critique, as well as encouragement for your writing goals. The group meets on the second (in person, at the Library) and fourth (via Zoom) Wednesdays of each month. Most meetings begin with a short discussion of a particular craft topic, then move to discussing member works. They welcome all forms of writing – fiction, poetry, memoir, non-fiction – and invite anyone looking to hone their craft to join the group. Click here to register.
